Nikki Narvaez' Emblazed Blog Tour

Emblazed (The Elemental Prophecy 2)
Author: Nikki Narvaez
Release Day:  September 20, 2013

Synopsis:

Three days. Three days seems like a lot of time, but not when you are racing to save the one you love. Not when time is against you.

Three days is all Jace has to save Brielle, to prevent both of their deaths. Both have more to battle than they ever imagined while they fight for their lives, their souls, and their love.

Will Jace be able to rescue Brielle, or will the fate of the world die with her?

Excerpt From Emblazed (The Elemental Prophecy 2):

Hades walked in with that stupid smirk on his face, which I couldn't wait to remove. When he reached me, he sneered as he said, “I'm going to give you one last chance to surrender your power to me. I shall spare you and you can go back home. If not, you can stay here while I continue to torture you until you beg me to take it.”

I snorted. “That will never happen. I would never give you my power, even if I knew how, which I don't.”

“Not even for the life of your flame?” Hades asked smugly.

I stiffened as fear spread over me. Had he found Jace? He couldn't have – Jace just got here. I could still feel him, and he wasn't in the building yet. Hades directed his attention to the door, which opened to two minotaurs dragging Jace between them. No. No, no, no!

I concentrated on talking to Jace in my mind, but he didn't respond. He still felt like he was somewhere else in the Underworld, not standing right in front of me. I knew our connection was having issues from being apart, but shouldn't it be back to normal since he was in front of me? He barely struggled against his captors, and he wouldn't even look at me. Jace, look at me! Look at me!

He still didn't respond. Something wasn't right. This couldn't be Jace – all my senses but my sight told me it wasn't, but how could I deny it when he stood before me? He looked like my Jace, and given I was probably delirious from everything I'd experienced down here, I didn't put much weight on not being able to hear or feel him. Our bond was probably all fucked up from being down here in another realm anyway.

“Last chance – submit your power to me or he will die,” Hades threatened.

“But, I don't know how. Please, don't,” I begged. Fuck, I didn't want to resort to begging, but this was Jace. I'd do anything for him, even damn humanity. I didn't care whether I was being selfish or not, Jace was my world, the only one that really mattered to me.

Then, my nightmare sprang to life before my eyes. The minotaurs moved away as the demons and skeletons from the walls converged on Jace. “Jace!!! Nooo!!!”

I pulled and fought against my bonds as tears blurred my sight. I couldn't feel anything that was happening to him, further confusing me as to what was transpiring with our bond. All I could focus on was Jace fighting off demons in front of me, and desperation and rage pulsed through me. I used it to empower my Akasha, but I was so consumed with emotion that I had no control over the tremendous power that streamed out of me. It erupted from my body, engulfing the room in light while wildly shooting in all directions, including upwards where the invisible bonds imprisoned me.

I fell to the floor in a heap, finally free. I looked up, frantically searching for Jace among the piles of charred bodies that had been in the path of my Akasha. Chandeliers sat in fragments in between the multitude of bodies and their strewn parts scattered across the floor. The thrones were on opposite sides of the room, embedded in the walls. Piles of ash smoked in various places throughout the room. Hades was nowhere in sight, and I hoped that I had obliterated him to one of those mounds of dust, even though he probably fled like coward when everything started happening.

I tried to stand, but I was too weak to support myself. Dots spotted my vision as I dragged myself down the stairs, praying that I could find Jace in the carnage in front of me before I blacked out. I was still alive, so that meant he was too, right? Our bond couldn't be that fractured, could it? I saw the red tips of his hair beneath a mass of blackened bodies.

I crawled over the smoking remains of the demons, the stench of which caused me to vomit on one of them. I continued crawling over bodies until I finally made it to Jace. I pushed the bodies on top of him weakly, but they wouldn't budge. I sobbed as I continued, only freeing his face and chest before I collapsed from my efforts. My head rested on his chest, which wasn't rising and falling with breath. I couldn't hear his heartbeat, my most cherished sound in the whole world. My heart shattered as I took in his charred face, his dead eyes staring back at me. Darkness crept in, and the last thought I had before I was pulled into nothing was that Jace couldn't be burned.

Jake Snow from Elodie Parkes now available on your kindle

I personally love Elodie Parkes and all of her work. Whenever I hear there is something more to read from her, I tend to put aside what I'm currently reading and move her to the front. Welcome to my blog today Elodie. Can you share some things with us?

Hi Jacquie,

Thank you for inviting me to the blog today with my new release, ‘Jake Snow’.

The book is the story of Bethany Snow’s brother. Bethany is the leading female character in my erotic romance, ‘The Last Time’ and people who read the book early in its release always wanted to know more about Jake. I had his story in my head and so here it is.

‘The Last Time’ takes place on a movie location and that’s where Jake and Bethany, who are private investigators are sent by their agency to deal with hate mail being sent to a movie star there. It’s two years since his sister got married and Jake has been working cases alone. He’s tired and hoping to find love too when we meet him in this book. This time the story takes place in the fashion world and Jake gets caught up in the strange happenings in an atelier.

The idea for the movie location book came to me when I was invited to watch a shoot by an indie film maker. The idea for the high fashion setting for this book was seeded about the same time when I went to watch a fashion show with friends. I was on holiday overseas, with them. We had attended a dance theatre, and then later in the week a fashion show. I knew immediately that I would write a story about the world of fashion. The idea of placing Jake Snow in this world came after I had written, The Last Time.

A new romantic mystery from Amazon best-selling author, Elodie Parkes
Jake Snow
Private detective, Jake Snow, has grown tired of working alone since his sister Bethany married, and stopped working on field cases with him. He's chosen less high-powered cases as he decides against teaming with another partner from the Black Agency. Gradually Jake realizes he wants the kind of love his sister found, and a different job...
When he's sent on what he thinks is a simple surveillance assignment, just before he's due to take his requested extended leave, he finds a tangled web of lies, and a fashion designer in trouble...
The question is will he also find love?
With steamy love scenes and a twist of fun, this book is 18+

He put his hand gently on her arm. “Let me see where you’re hurt.”

She pulled her T-shirt down to show him the top of her arm. There was a big bruise starting where her shoulder met the top of her arm and it continued down her arm a little way.

Jake frowned. “I’m sorry. I did that didn’t I? I knew you were slender, but I thought I was dealing with a young guy, maybe casing the place for a robbery. Have you got any witch hazel, that’s good for bruises?”

She shook her head, and pulled up her T-shirt.

“Maybe a pack of frozen peas?” Jake really wanted to help, and at the same time, he was trying to squash down an urgent need to hold her close and kiss that bruise away. It worried him, but he found her very attractive.

Pixie shook her head again, and to Jake’s alarm, a huge tear slid down her cheek and dripped off her chin. Jake caught it in the palm of his hand.

“Don’t cry. I’ll talk with my boss and maybe there will be some way we can help you.”

New cover reveal for A Witch's Tale by Rue Volley

This book is dedicated to Rue's mother, who passed away in March of 2012, from Breast Cancer. The book is very much a piece of Rue's generous and loving heart. Written in a first person POV, from the perspective of teenaged Alexi, the book is filled with laughter, adventure and witchcraft. There are moments of intrigue that fire the imagination, and poignancy that will touch the heart of any reader. A fantastic read for anyone fourteen years or older. Blurb: Meet Alexi, short for Alexandria. She is a witch, from a long line of powerful witch's. The only problem is, she totally sucks at it. Alexi lives alone with her Dad, Christopher, in the perfect town of Ravenswood. Everything seems normal as she plans her future after High School and dreams of the big city. Along with her best friend, Logan, they spend their days navigating school and making fun of the towns council members who argue for months on what to add and subtract from Ravenswood. All seemed fine until a new boy moved into the so-called haunted mansion. It was then that things started to change and not necessarily for the better. This series is YA and packed with elements of witchy what not's, humor, romance and overcoming grief. It does contain a couple of mature themes but suitable for 14+

Excerpt from the book
I sat on the edge of my bed for a while. I do have studying to do and yet I find myself not…first time in my life for that to happen. My Dad tapped on my door and I looked up as he stepped in with a tray and I smelled the food. He had ordered, not chinese this time…but burgers. We have a little restaurant here in town that makes the best ones you could ever hope for. He placed the tray down on my side table and then he sat down next to me and tapped me on the knee.
"I want to apologize." He said.
I looked at him and waited.
"I did listen, I tried not too…and then it happened, I should have not lied, as we don’t to each other…but I just wanted you to know." He said.
"I appreciate the admission." I said.
My Dad laughed and touched my face.
"Alexi…in all seriousness…"
"Dad…"
He cut me off. "Listen…I know that we have never really talked about boys."
"Oh god." I said as I scooted back from him.
"No…don’t panic. I am just trying here…so give me a break okay?" he asked me.
I tried to relax and leaned back on my headboard.
"Alexi…I wish that your Mom was here, I mean other than for the obvious reasons, but we got cheated and in turn, you did… and now you are stuck with me, trying to talk to you about something that we should have talked to you about a long time ago."
"I’m okay with not talking about it." I said as I reached for my burger and took a big bite of it.
"Well." My Dad said as he leaned back and looked up at my ceiling.

"I would be totally fine not talking about it either, but your Mom would just kill me, if I didn’t…and I am sure wherever she is she is wanting to give me an ear full right now for waiting this long."

I shoved the burger in my mouth along with some crispy fries and acted like I was at school…not here, being trapped into the "talk".

"I don’t think you need too." I said, all muffled with food in my mouth.

"You know what a penis is right?" he suddenly said as he faced me. I choked on my burger and dropped it in my lap and he tapped me on the back and then grabbed my arms and raised them over my head as I sucked in air.
"Oh my god." I said as I pulled my arms from him and stood up. He watched me and grinned.
"I just wondered…I mean I know that school is not exactly progressive in nature."
"I know what that is Dad and the fact that you said it to me just made me throw up in my mouth a little." I said as I looked around my room.
"Alexi…I just, well…what happens is when a man gets excited…"
I held up my hands to him.
"I know….I do, I have internet." I said.
He laughed and looked at the computer on my desk.
"Are you looking at porn?"
"No! Oh my god…no." I said as I crossed my arms on my chest.
"Oh…okay good. That stuff is not realistic anyway, I mean some of the stuff they do…holy crap! I mean how you get legs up that high…"

"Dad! I am not looking at porn, nor will I." I said as I shook my head.

"Oh…okay." He said as he looked back at my fries and popped one into his mouth.

"Well…do you understand the logistics of what happens when you have sex?"

"Oh god." I said.

"Well, the first time for a girl hurts, from what I hear…"

"Good to know." I said as I slapped my hands on my legs.

"I would assume so…I mean your Mother was really…"

"Stop…stop….stop it." I said.

"Oh…okay, yeah…you don’t want to hear about that."

"Not really." I said as I crossed my arms back on my chest and shook my head.

"Well…it gets really hard…" he said as he waved his hands at his crotch.

"Don’t…don’t do that, the waving thing at your crotch."

He looked up at me and grinned as he shook his head.

"Okay." He said as he stood up.

"I think that maybe you understand the basic concept."

"Uh huh." I said as I nodded.

"Well…the ummm, the store, the pharmacy on Olive Rd has condoms." He said.

"What?" I said.

"The ones that have the extra ummm, you know, protection…are the best." He said.

"What are you doing?" I asked him.

"Just…telling you, giving you information for future use." He said.

"I am not having sex Dad! I mean, if and when that EVER happens, I am sure that I will be prepared."

"Of course you will, but what kind of Dad would I be if I didn’t try to help?"

"Less awkward…maybe?" I said.

"Oh…okay, I’m sorry. I mean I am not saying go out and do it…but I read, and it seems like kids just do it whether you want them to or not, so I say…when you do, just be careful."

"Noted." I said as I stared at the floor.

"Okay then…ummm, Logan’s Mom is coming over, to pick him up soon…I should ahhh, go downstairs."

"Good idea." I said. And with that my Dad left. I looked at my burger and for the first time I didn’t want to eat…nothing at all.
